Much as I told myself I wasn’t going to sign up for more than a couple of challenges next year, this one just sounded way too good to pass up! And, it covers so many areas, that technically, I wouldn’t have to sign up for others… I could just do this one! So, without further ado…
I’m signing up for… The Twenty-Ten Reading Challenge!

See the page (here on my blog) for the rules (or, just click the button above, and you can go sign up, yourself)!

Today is the end of the 2009 Chunkster Challenge, and I have completed what I set out to do!
I had chosen option 2, “Do These Books Make My Butt Look Big?“, which was to read 3-5 “chunksters” (books over 450 pages long).
The books I read for the challenge were:
1. “Vince & Joy” by Lisa Jewel [finished: Apr.3/09 - 503p.]
2. “Blankets” by Craig Thompson [finished: Apr.19/09 - 592p.]
3. “Thirst (vol.1)” by Christopher Pike [finished: Oct.28/09 - 594p.]
I look forward to taking part in this challenge again in 2010.

January 1, 2010 -to- December 31, 2010
Debi over at The Twiga Blog is hosting this Christian NonFiction Challenge for the full year of 2010. She writes: “The goal is to read at least 10 Nonfiction books in the Christian genre – Christian Living, Inspiration, or Christian biography/autobiography.”
I don’t plan to have a formal list… I’ll just add books as I read them.
This should be an easy challenge for me, as this is the genre I read from most.

The R.I.P. (Readers Imbibing Peril) IV Challenge has now ended, and I have completed the challenge!
I’d signed up for “Peril the Second“, meaning I only had to read 2 books.
The books I read were:
1. “Dead Until Dark” by Charlaine Harris [Sept.29/09 ~ A-]
2. “Thirst (vol.1)” by Christopher Pike [Oct.28/09 ~ A-]
This was the perfect challenge for me, right now, as I have been on a huge “vampire” reading kick!

I’ve decided to join in on Carl’s R.eaders I.mbibing P.eril IV Challenge, this year. I’ve never had an interest in this one before, but since I’m on such a vampire-reading kick, I figured, “Why not?” LOL.
I’ve chosen “Peril the Second” as my level, meaning I’ll be aiming to read 2 books between September 1st and October 31st. Easy enough, usually, but with all of the review books I’ve got coming up for October, it might be harder than it seems.

I’m looking forward to reading my new books, “Marked” by P.C. Cast, and “Evermore” by Alyson Noel, as well as some Sookie Stackhouse books, too!

I’ve decided to join in on 2 challenges that I wasn’t, previously, thinking I’d join. But, others’ posts have convinced me.
The first is the August Reading Challenge, hosted by PizzasBookDiscussion. You just try to read as many books as you can during the month of August 2009. I figured that, since I have a ton of review books and blog tours coming for August, it’d be the perfect challenge to join!
The second was the Sookie Stackhouse Reading Challenge. I finally gave in and joined in on this one ’cause everyone’s been talking about these books, and the reviews have all been good, so far (the ones I’ve read, anyway). I’m dying of curiosity! So, why not join in the fun? I’ve got a whole year, basically, to get the 9 books in the series read, so that’s what convinced me. I can do a full year.
This one’s hosted by Beth. ((I put book #1 of this series on my Raved Reads list, too, as right now, it’s VERY “raved”!))
Oh, and yeah… I made my own button for the “Sookie” challenge, as I couldn’t help myself.
I really hope Beth doesn’t mind!

I was over at My Friend Amy’s Blog this morning, and found out that she’s hosting an interesting challenge — to get 50 book bloggers to read the books from the “50 Books For our Time” list put out by Newsweek, recently.
So, since there were only 2 or 3 books left to choose from, I chose “Walking with the Wind” by John Lewis. Here’s the description of it from Amazon.com:
The son of an Alabama sharecropper, and now a sixth-term United States Congressman, John Lewis has led an extraordinary life, one that found him at the epicenter of the civil rights movement in the late ’50s and ’60s. As Chairman of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC), Lewis was present at all the major battlefields of the movement. Arrested more than forty times and severely beaten on several occasions, he was one of the youngest yet most courageous leaders. Written with charm, warmth, and honesty, Walking with the Wind offers rare insight into the movement and the personalities of all the civil rights leaders-what was happening behind the scenes, the infighting, struggles, and triumphs. Lewis takes us from the Nashville lunch counter sit-ins to the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, Alabama, where he led more than five hundred marchers on what became known as “Bloody Sunday.” While there have been exceptional books on the movement, there has never been a front-line account by a man like John Lewis. A true American hero, his story is “destined to become a classic in civil rights literature.” (Los Angeles Times)
This book will be just a little out of my comfort zone, and it’s definitely going to be a challenge (it’s 496 pages long, too!). But, that’s okay… it sounds like a good one to try.
My review will be posted here when I finish reading. I’ve already put a hold on this title at my local library.
